Frequently
Asked Questions
How is the Community Veterinary Center (CVC) different from a for-profit
veterinary clinic?
- CVC services are offered only to low-income clients.
Low-income clients by our definition will earn at or below 160%
of the federal poverty guidelines, that is minimum wage and below.
- CVC will charge clients on a sliding scale based on income levels.
- Costs for veterinary services beyond those covered by co-pays will be covered by donations from the public and charitable grants.
- Veterinary services will be charged out at rates much lower than for-profit veterinary clinics.
What services will CVC offer to low-income clients?
- Initially the clinic will be open three days per week offering basic veterinary services including high volume spay/neuter surgeries, wellness/preventive care, and basic surgical and medical care for sick animals.
As funding allows, CVC will open to become a full service clinic open five days per week and offering more in-depth surgical and diagnostic procedures.
