Story of Our Clinic
Community Veterinary Center was formed in 2004 by a collection of local animal activists and veterinarians. The first five years we widened our community support, wrote a detailed business plan, and began to raise funds.
In 2009, St. Vincent de Paul agreed to lease land to the CVC for $1.00/year. Also in 2009, 1,100 square-foot modular classroom was donated by the Creswell School District.
The building was moved to Eugene then went into storage for a few months. On moving day (February 2010), we watched our building being set down on its new sturdy foundation.
Our building needed a new roof, new windows and extensive remodeling on the inside. Each step of the construction continued as we raised the funds to complete it. Near the end of 2010, the local newspaper ran an article that we needed $30,000 to finish the building and our wonderful community came through to donate what we needed.
We had our Grand Opening in the summer of 2011.
The Pro-Bone-O clinics for homeless clients' companion animals moved into our building two weeks before the grand opening. This non-profit organization has been providing bi-monthly free clinics for 12 years and we are thrilled to have them as partners and friends.
In the Fall of 2011, we completed our surgical suite and began planning for the opening of the clinic. In December, we built a storage shed that matched our building to house donated pet food and some equipment.
CVC Pet-Check, our lost-cost, low-income wellness clinic, is a collaboration between CVC and Pro-Bone-O. It is staffed totally by volunteers.
